If you paid for the exam, then you can ask for a copy right away.  If you are referring to an exam where VA has hired a contractor, then, as usual, we dont know how long it takes VA to do anything...but we can be sure VA wont do it one second before they want to get it done.

If its been a few weeks, go to your VAMC release of information and ask for a copy.

The contractor, may or may not provide you a copy of the exam.  You can always try, tho.

I had a QTC  C&P in 2014  and they sent me a letter detailing where and when the exam is to take place, also they included in the letter of information how to file travel pay if its a benefit or accepted

. and after the exam I can wait at least 2 weeks and they (QTC) will send me a copy of the exam report.....I ever did contact QTC for the report  instead I went to the VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration) And request to see a VSO   to look it up on the VBMS and make me a copy  the VSO did just this  you are entitle to one free copy of this report.

Now I am not 100% the VBA still does this?  you just have to go to them and request this exam by date the exam took place.

Other than that  you can wait a few weeks and go to release of medical records at your VAMC REQUEST THE EXAM BY DATE.  You will more than likely receive all your medical records from the date you give them    but request the C&P Exam only.

It is also placed in your C-FILE.

I have had 3 c/p exams by private providers since January.. I have requested in writing 3 times since then for copies of the exams and too date I have not received one copy.  The ratings decisions were completed within 10- 12 days after the exams.. so how to get a copy in a reasonable amount of time.. is a good question...

Requesting a copy of your C-File will definitely get you a copy of your C&P exam, the only problem with requesting a copy of your C-File it takes about 6 months to get.
