I was 500 feet from this bomb blast. I was at my duty station at the fuel storage depot when the bomb went off 500 feet from me..
On Aug. 31, 1981, a massive car bomb exploded in the parking lot outside the USAFE headquarters building on Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Twelve U.S. military members and two German civilians were injured.
long story short, it blew us to the ground and across the room, only 2 of us that morning waiting for out shift to end. I was only one of 10 people who were in a group of volunteers to who volunteer work for several years, and this time we were the first group to enter the bombed building and make a report…

The higher level Reviewer wrote and told me my buddy letters were clear and competent to establish continuation of service connectedinjury, incidents (events) or diseases that occurred in service after finding several duty to assist errors. After having all buddy letters add the certifying statement s to them as requested and sent in I awaited approval.
